　　Billie Joe在这张专辑中，自称这张专辑是朋克摇滚史诗，实际上也正是如此，只不过有些部分的音乐表现已经不是纯粹的朋克了。在整张专辑中Green Day乐队以战争日记的形式表述了自己的政治立场，专辑中刻画了一个名为"St. Jimmy"(圣 吉米)的人物，而很多话也是借着"St. Jimmy"的口说出来的，而直到"St. Jimmy"的死也都是浓墨重彩的表现的。专辑里，Green Day乐队像艺术摇滚一样给单曲玩起了"乐章"，两首9分多钟的单曲都被分成了五个段落，讲述了战争中的故事。《Jesus Of Suburbia》第二段落《City Of The Damned》以及第五段落《Tales Of Another Broken Home》中的钢琴独声伴奏表现了怒吼后的心声，这支九分钟的单曲就像是他们通过音乐对美国的控诉。而另一首9分钟的巨著则是讲述St. Jimmy的死，《Homecoming》的标题不由令人想起了越南战争时美国大兵的经典遗言"我想回家"。整张专辑连贯一体，以朋克为基调，辅以各种灵活的音乐风格作为衬托，通过一个个小的组成部分多角度的表现了Green Day对美国的政治和战争喧泄。本歌曲实为歌曲《St.Jimmy》的第一桥段"Are we the waiting"，第二桥段为"st.jimmy"
